UFC 237 play-by-play Results: Jose Aldo vs Alexander Volkanovski

The stacked Jeunesse Arena will be a home of the fighting world once again as the current strawweight Champion Rose Namajunas (8-3-0) steps into the hostile territory to defend her title against the Brazilian favorite, and an always dangerous power puncher Jessica Andrade (19-6-0) in the main event of the evening.

The co-main event is set for the Middleweight clash between the fearsome striker, and one of the best to ever do it Anderson Silva (34-9-0) taking on the heavy-handed and rising middleweight Jared Cannonier (11-4-0).

We will also follow the return of the “King of Rio”, Jose Aldo (28-4-0) in his attempt to stop the Featherweight rise of talented Australian Alexander Volkanovski (19-1-0), in a fight that will launch a winner into the title contender position.

LIVE PLAY-BY-PLAY: Jose Aldo vs Alexander Volkanovski

Round 1 – Both fighters are in the orthodox stances. Aldo slowly takes the center. Volkanovski starts moving on the outside. Volkanovski opens the fight with an inside leg kick. Both fighters are flat-footed. They are feeling each other. Aldo takes the center and starts keeping the center. Nice inside leg kick and a jab lands for Volkanovski. He fires another leg kick and lands. Volkanovski is looking like a sharper fighter early. Aldo is making reads. 1st min in, Aldo misses with the high kick. Volkanovski is throwing a lot of faints. Neither fighter is willing to pull the trigger. Aldo is walking Volkanovski down. They are both respecting the striking of each other. Volkanovski wants to bite Aldo into something. Aldo stays patient and continues to put pressure on Volkanovski. Both fighters exchange leg kicks. Halfway in, hard inside leg kick lands for Volkanovski! Aldo responds with a nasty body shot! Both fighters are opening up with the strikes. Hard leg kick lands for Aldo! Volkanovski sticks with the kicks. He connects with a jab but eats a left hook from Aldo! Aldo is countering the attacks well in this round. 1 min to go, Volkanovski moves in with a left hand and initiates the clinch against the fence. Aldo is defending well. Volkanovski is committed to a takedown. Aldo separates from the clinch and scores with a leg kick. Hard kick to the body lands for Volkanovski! Aldo explodes with a flying knee to the body and lands! Round 2 – Volkanovski comes out with a lot of movement. He opens the round with a couple of leg kicks. Aldo stays patient. Volkanovski is slowly destroying the lead leg of Aldo. He is exploding with the leg kicks. Volkanovski follows with the two punch combo over the top but he is out of range. Aldo responds with the right hook and lands. Volkanovski is more active with the leg kicks. 1st min in, Aldo is still out of the range with the counter punches. Volkanovski continues to work the lead leg of Aldo. Stiff jab cracks Volkanovski! Volkanovski pushes for a clinch but Aldo separates. Volkanovski has a higher output of kicks and straight punches in this round. Aldo is waiting too much. He closes the distance and lands a nice left hook. Volkanovski resets and pushes forward but eats a left hook counter! Volkanovski moves in once again and lands a stiff jab! Halfway in, Hard elbow lands for Volkanovski! The referee stops the fight. Volkanovski has landed an eye poke. The referee gives Aldo time to recover. The fight continues in the center. Volkanovski continues to move on the outside. Aldo explodes with a leg kick and follows with the right hook! He is the aggressor. Good counter right lands for Aldo! Volkanovski spots the danger on the feet and initiates the clinch against the fence. He is busy with the knees to the left leg of Aldo. Aldo has both under hooks. He is working for a separation. He manages to reverse the clinch position. 1 min to go, Volkanovski reverses the clinch position once again and continues to work with the knees to the leg. Aldo is working for a separation. Volkanovski backs off the clinch and pushes with the left hand. Aldo moves away and sticks with the jab. Both fighters are swinging and missing. 10-9 Volkanovski

Round 3 – Volkanovski continues with the pressure. Aldo starts moving forward but Volkanovski counters with a couple of jabs. Both fighters exchange hard punches in the center as Volkanovski slows the action down with a clinch against the fence. 1st min in, Volkanovski is fighting a smart fight. He is controlling the pace and tempo of the fight. Aldo is desperately working for a separation. Volkanovski is looking strong in the clinch. Aldo finally separates. Volkanovski closes the distance and lands a right hand. He follows with a body kick and lands! Volkanovski is looking sharp on the feet! He is throwing punches from all angles. Aldo is displaying good head movement. Volkanovski connects with a big right hand! Aldo absorbs! Volkanovski clinches as Aldo separates. Aldo is flat-footed. He is in the face of Volkanovski the entire time. Volkanovski is firing from all angles. Aldo is not offering any significant offense in this round. Volkanovski pushes for another clinch against the fence. He is doing a good job of neutralizing the explosive attacks of Aldo. Aldo has a hard time separating from the clinch and he starts looking at the clock. Volkanovski is putting strong pressure on him. Big elbow lands for Volkanovski! He breaks once again and lands a two-punch combo! 1 min to go, He continues with the clinch. The referee warns the fighters to work. Aldo is looking desperate against the fence. Volkanovski is more active in the entire fight. He stays busy with the knees as the fight ends. 10-9 Volkanovski
